Susan Andersen, of SueAndersenYoga ran a series of Yoga for Grief and Loss classes as 2020 came to a close. Yoga offers effective tools to reduce stress and anxiety, whether caused by COVID or the loss of a loved one. Breathing techniques, gentle movement and stretching, and meditation help release emotional and physical grief symptoms that are stored in the body, heart, and mind. Susan recorded three short yoga sequences for Sharing Kindness, to support adults and students during these difficult times. Try them out and see how you feel!

  • Gentle Yoga to Wake Up Your Body: In this short segment we’ll use yoga poses and breath work to wake up the body and clear the mind while sitting on a mat.  A great way to start your day!
  • A Yoga Sequence to Build Strength:In this short segment we will stretch the spine and build strength with Warrior poses.  Perfect for mid-day, or when you’ve been sitting too long.
  • 5 Minute Yoga to Stretch the Spine: Feeling stiff?  Take a break during your busy day with this short yoga sequence to move the spine while seated in a chair.  A relaxing sequence for end of day or anytime you need a little movement.

Contained within the pages of the book are activities for children designed to help them better express, understand, and cope with their grief. Each page also offers guidance about how adults can connect with their child on the difficult subjects of death, dying, and bereavement.
