Alternative Healing Modalities

There are many methods of healing for the grieving, and different approaches work for different people — sometimes, it helps to try more than one, and choose your favorite or combine them. The following are some of the grief programs we offer outside of peer support.

Current Programs:

Grief Tools

5-week peer grief support program

Through grant-funded partnerships, Sharing Kindness offers five-week support programs, called Grief Tools, that introduce a new healing modality each week. Examples of these modalities may include mindfulness, drumming, yoga and self compassion.

Some of our partnerships, both past and ongoing, have included:

  • Alzheimer’s Family Support Center (AFSC)
  • Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
  • Helping Our Women (HOW)

The Healing Circle

Movement and journaling sessions for grievers

Sue Andersen Yoga and our own lead clinician, Kathleen Shine-O’Brien, LMHC, lead grievers in gentle movement and breathwork with the goal of physical and emotional relaxation. Through these sessions, participants are guided through journal prompts and are welcome to share their feelings, if they feel comfortable. ‣Info & registration
