Grief is a natural response to loss. Yet many bereaved people report feeling misunderstood and abandoned by their friends and communities due to a lack of education about the needs of the grieving.

We’re starting the conversation with Grief 101, a presentation at local libraries that covers “the basics” of grief: what it is, how it impacts our brains and bodies, and how we can support people in our lives who are going through it.

Sharing Kindness, in partnership with local libraries and with funding from the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM), is offering this educational presentation series for free to interested libraries on the Cape & Islands. In conjunction with the event, participants are encouraged to browse the curated grief resources on the Sharing Kindness website. A Child’s Grief Book Pack will also be gifted to each host library, which will be available for parents and caregivers to check out.

Join the movement to build a more grief-sensitive community on the Cape & Islands.
